Who is Gamma Phi Beta?

Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, one of the 10 oldest women’s organizations in North America and the first to be called a “sorority,” was founded November 11, 1874, at Syracuse University in New York. Gamma Phi Beta is more than 140 years old and has been dedicated to continuing the vision of our Founders since day one. Members of the Sorority are wholeheartedly invested in our sisterhood and believe deeply in our philanthropic mission, vision and focus. There is a quiet strength that is evident across the sisters and a desire to remain true and constant to the Sorority, the friendships, the opportunities and the values.

Gamma Phi Beta's have been creating a home away from home for students at SMU since 1929. That's over 90 years! We are the oldest chapter in Texas and have initiated thousands of sisters here on this campus.

New Member Experience

When women join Gamma Phi Beta, they are considered new members. During this time, they complete Fidelity for New Members, an online and in-person educational program designed to increase engagement and cultivate sisterhood.

Initiated Member Experience

In addition to social experiences and bonding sisterhood activities, initiated members have tons of opportunities to make the most out of their collegiate experience.
